PURPOSE AND VISION

PSALM 133

1.  How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

2.  It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard,              running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes.

3.  It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.  For there the     Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

The purpose and vision of our church is to glorify God by equipping, empowering and releasing His people to function in the gifts and abilities that He has provided for them.  To cultivate equality in Ministry so that everyone is valued whatever their chosen task.

Our vision is that through a re-purposed church as many people as possible are provided with an opportunity to hear and understand the Gospel so that at a time of their own choosing they can accept or reject Jesus Christ as their saviour.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in….

  1. The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, that they are entirely trustworthy and of supreme authority in matters of faith and conduct.
  2. The sovereignty of God as revealed in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Creation, Redemption and Final Judgement.
  3. The universal sinfulness and guilt of mankind and the need to be reconciled to God through His Son Jesus Christ, by means of ‘New Birth’.
  4. The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all sufficient ground of Redemption from the guilt and power of sin and its eternal consequences.
  5. The justification of the repentant sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ, who was born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, rose from the dead was, and is, glorified in Heaven.
  6. The present and personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit upon the  confession of our sins and faith in Jesus Christ, at which point the believer receives the gift of eternal life, and adoption into God’s family. Also in His present ongoing work of guidance, teaching and impartation of spiritual gifts and ministries.
  7. The ‘Priesthood of all Believers’ – the Body of Christ - of which He is the Head, whose purpose in life is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as Saviour at home and abroad.
  8. The responsibility of all believers to participate in ministry, making no distinction on the grounds of gifts and abilities; helping to build the Church at home and abroad. The distribution of humanitarian aid and the care of the environment.
  9. The Baptism of believers; regular participation in the Sacraments/Communion as instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ; His visible return in great power and glory, to be glorified in all those who look for His return to execute judgement and justice.
  10. The Universal Christian Church and our need to participate with others in the proclamation of the Gospel, worship and prayer.
