MISSION TO

‘HOLY LAND INSTITUTE FOR THE DEAF’

JORDAN  2010

In 2009 NTCC took part in its first Mission. Seven members of the church went across to Salt, in Jordan to the HLID.

HLID is the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf.

It is a school run by Brother Andrew for deaf (and some deaf and blind) children. There are about 120 residents in the school.

The children are trained up to do a trade, with some amazing results.  The one House Mistress was brought up there herself, went away to College and is now back running the dormitories.

Our team were involved in demolishing walls etc., in a three bedroom apartment and dismantling the electrics for re-use when the building is converted into a new Chapel.  The chapel they have now is not big enough!  Another part of the team were cleaning and painting the railings outside.  Although not in their first youth, Brother Andrew was so impressed with the team he has asked them to return.

SO WE ARE GOING AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2010!
