My Story
Just before leaving the UK to live in Cyprus in 1998, I was given a contact with an American Jewish immigrant, living in Israel. She had a small private English school in the town of Ashkelon near the Gaza border and needed voluntary help. This was the beginning of my involvement with Israel. It was followed in 1999 by a scriptural call to go to the “lost sheep of the House of Israel”, Matthew 10:6.
Since then I have continued to spend as much time as possible in the land, living among the people and taking what opportunities God opens up, to speak to them of their Messiah, Jesus. My main base has remained in Ashkelon.
For the past three years, I have been meeting three times weekly with a Jewish believer from Slovakia, for intercessionary prayer. We cover international needs but our main focus is upon Israel. The land has many needs, such as,
Its safety and protection
Military and political issues
National repentance
Salvation for its people
Strengthening and growth of churches,
and individual needs we see around us.
There are numerous congregations throughout Israel, who bravely witness for Jesus, inspite of increasing opposition and persecution from ultra orthodox Jews. There are encouraging indications of a change in attitude toward messianic believers in some places. A friend’s daughter was being assessed for compulsory national service, recently, and admitted her faith in Yeshua as the Messiah. She has been given a position of responsibility. It seems that the Israeli military welcomes Messianic Jews into its ranks because of their exemplary lives. Praise God!
Please pray for the increasing number of young believers now of age to undertake military service, as they are surrounded by huge dangers and equally huge temptations.
As it is very difficult to obtain residency in Israel, Cyprus is my home to which I return every three months to renew my visa. NTCC is my church, and I am happy to be regarded as their representative in Israel. Their prayers and loving support means a great deal to me and to my friends and contacts in the land.
